Party In The Paddock sells out, adds three more acts

This week’s Party In The Paddock in Tasmania has sold out all its tickets over its three days, its promoter Vibestown.

Last year too drew a capacity 7000.

As the event gets set to stage for its sixth year on Thursday February 8, Friday 9 and Saturday 10 at White Hills (20 minutes drive from Launceston) , it also added thee more acts to the bill. They are:

* NSW hip-hop act Thundamentals who celebrate their 10th year since the release of their debut self-titled EP with a massive national tour and their ’Sally’ ft. Matayaranked at #8 on the triple j Hottest 100.

* Kirin J Callinan was invited after being dropped from the Laneway bill.

The festival said, “PITP believes that a progressive society of equality and tolerance is in part shaped by the provocative artists who dance on its fringes.

“We afford artists a license to challenge norms, express themselves freely and be agents of change.

“For that reason, PITP extends a special invitation for Kirin J Callinan to join us in The Paddock this year for his Tasmanian festival debut.

“We judge Kirin not by a single, spontaneous moment of profanity but rather by a decade of provocative and brilliant work.

“Kirin J Callinan is rightfully recognised internationally as a master musician as well as a bold and brilliant warrior for originality and diversity and we welcome him to The Paddock this Saturday night.

“Kirin will be joining us for a full band set and he’ll also share MC duties with local Greens legend Andrea Dawkins.”

* Brisbane teen MC Mallrat, who describes herself as “Hannah Montana of the rap game”, has clocked up more than 16 million streams in the two short years she’s been making music in her last year in high school.

With ‘Better’ making it into the Hottest 100, she also has an EP in the works.

The three join a bill which includes, among others, Gang of Youths, Grouplove, The Avalanches (DJ set), Meg Mac, Ball Park Music, Client Liaison, The Preatures, Tkay Maidza, Holy Holy, Crooked Colours, Tired Lion, WAAX, 30/70, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Kinder, Sear Seattle, Baker Boy and Pow! Negro.

Festival founder and creative director Jesse Higgs said “Once again we are super humbled and thankful for the support we receive each year on a national level and within the Tassie community.

Heading into our 6th year, we’ve expanded our horizons whilst staying true to PITP’s grassroots beginnings.

“We’re really excited to add these additional acts to the bill and after delving into the recent controversy involving Kirin, we thought it was an integral gesture to put our support behind the artist.

“The Paddock is ’Big Enough’ for everyone.”
