Gracie Abrams Shoots to the Top of the Aotearoa Charts

Gracie Abrams and returning New Zealand music icon Gin Wigmore have scored big on the Official Aotearoa Music Charts this week.

Fresh from relocating to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland recently, Wigmore tops the Top 20 Aotearoa Albums Chart with Beautiful Mess.

Wigmore's long-awaited fourth studio album also makes it to No. 5 on the Top 40 Albums Chart. That means it's outperformed her previous album, Ivory (2018), which peaked at No. 3 on the Top 20 Aotearoa Albums Chart and No. 11 on the Top 40 Albums Chart.

US pop singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams goes straight to the top of this week's Top 40 Albums Chart with Daughter From Hell, which means Olivia Rodrigo drops down one place to No. 2 with you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.

Breakout country star Ella Langley maintains her grip on the Top 40 Singles Chart, leading the way again with "Choosin' Texas". Langley's song recently tied Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey for a long-standing Billboard chart record in the US.

The rest of the Top 40 Singles Chart looks almost exactly the same as last week, with Alex Warren ("Ordinary") and Michael Jackson ("Billie Jean") trading the fourth and fifth spots.

Over on the Top 20 Aotearoa Singles Chart, Fat Papi replaces Hori Shaw and Te Wehi in No. 1 with the prodshushy-produced "Freaked Out".

There's no movement atop the Top 10 Te Reo Māori Singles Chart, however, with TAWAZ and friends still dominating with "Mānawa Maiea Matariki".

In other notable news, homegrown music platform Lume, which is backed by investors including Lorde, has had its data included for the first time in the calculation of this week's charts. Read all about Lume here.
