Major brands behind Good Life ‘15

Presenting partners for under-18s festival Good Life in March are Coca-Cola, Nova FM, [V] Hits, Spotify, Project Almanac, London Model Management and Pioneer.

Dot Dash/Remote Control pact Brisbane teen Jeremy Neale

Brisbane teen Jeremy Neale struck up with Dot Dash/Remote Control, releasing his new single The News. Since the November 2013 release of his debut EP In Stranger Times, Neale has toured Australia, played Liverpool Sound City and The Great Escape in the UK and visited Singapore for the Music Matters confab. He released a 7” with surf band Teen Sensations.

Addition to Dew Process roster

Dew Process’ latest international signing is UK electro-rock collective Until The Ribbon Breaks. New single and video Revolution Indifference featuring Killer Mike and El-P clocked 41,000 views in two days. Album A Lesson Unlearnt is out in January through its tie-up with Universal Music Australia.

Spunk, Yumi Zouma, partner up

Yumi Zouma, who commute between New Zealand and New York, have partnered with Spunk Records to release their second EP in February. The enigmatic trio toured Australia this year with Chet Faker, and opened for Lorde during her North American and NZ dates. Their first EP through Brooklyn-based Cascine label, topped the Hype Machine charts in three days.

Ticket Group partners with Twilight at Taronga

Twilight at Taronga, the music concert summer series at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo, changed ticketing agencies after 14 years to The Ticket Group.

Taronga’s Commercial Services Manager, Marion Joyce, said the new set-up allowed greater customer service. “For the 20th Anniversary series we revisited every aspect of the program to improve the customer experience of the event, from the incredible line up to offering free public transport in the price of every ticket to the brand identity, which this year we are delighted to have supplied by iconic Australian artist Ken Done.”

First week of sales were “well above” previous launches. Two concerts sold out, including Bernard Fanning’s, which hit capacity on the day of public release.

Harley Evans, owner and Managing Director of The Ticket Group, which includes the Moshtix brand stated, “It was great to be invited to demonstrate how TTG’s unique offering could align with Twilight at Taronga’s objectives when they had such an established model in place, but we now have the privilege of being able to support this terrific event.”

Pricewar Music inks Guards Of May to management

With their debut album prepped for release in the first half of 2015, Brisbane heavy/prog outfit Guards Of May assigned their management to Tim Price and Pricewar Music. Pricewar’s management roster includes Sydonia, Ezekiel Ox and StormChasers. Guards of May embarked on two East Coast tours following national radio airplay and media acclaim for their first two singles.

I Heard They Eat Cigarettes Records launching with World Wild

I Heard They Eat Cigarettes Records is the new label offshoot for the posse which has grown from the cult Melbourne street wear and nightlife scene. The idea of the label is to provide a platform for progressive and experimental artists. First release is World Wild (aka Jarrad Lee Jackson)’s Coast to Coast, an ‘80s funk/synth tribute to the ‘80s Californian skate and surf scene.

Cooking Vinyl Australia widens distribution deals

Cooking Vinyl Australia will distribute former Orbital member Paul Hartnoll’s new project 8:58. The deal comes through Cooking Vinyl’s new tie-up with the UK’s Essential Music & Marketing, which also recently signed the labels Full Time Hobby (Timber Timbre, Tunng, Pinkunoizu, Smoke Fairies, Erland & The Carnival), its sister label Hassle (We Are The Ocean, Lonely The Brave) and Peacefrog Records (José González, Charlene Soraia).

Shazam is eying a move into pre-show cinema content with its Australian cinema partner Val Morgan. It follows a US deal with National CineMedia for 20,000 screens. Pre-show content includes trivia contests, free tickets, extended content and the chance to discover new music.

Dead Letter Circus share Scar Stories

Dead Letter Circus were the latest to get involved in Scar Stories, a charity which helps young adult cancer survivors by organising for them to meet their rock heroes and being photographed with them. DLC met 22-year-old Osteosarcoma survivor Jaymee Tully, who was given the limo, hair and makeup treatment for the shoot. The photos will be designed into gig-style posters for exhibition and sale, with profits going towards running free creative workshops and other Scar Stories creative projects.

Spotify jingle-jangles at eBay

Spotify Australia is increasing the Christmas experience by offering Christmas tunes for free to eBay shoppers. Spotify A/NZ Managing Director Kate Vale said: “We believe eBay consumers will feel that little bit merrier when they tune in to our festive playlist on the eBay site while shopping for loved ones.”

Sydney Biennale gets new funding partner

Sydney’s Neilson Foundation is the new principal sponsor for the Biennale of Sydney. It’s supposed to be the single highest donation from a private donor in the festival’s 41-year history. This year it lost its chief and main funder in the artist backlash when Chairman Luca Belgiorno-Nettis was found to be behind Transfield Services, which manages offshore detention facilities.
