Musical Chairs: New coaches for The Voice; WAU Management expands; Tom Percy quits 6PR over theme song

Matty Whiteis new Assistant Content Director at Triple M Sydney. His former role, as Group Content Director for Southern Cross Austereo’s NX and KO FM, is taken over byMike Byrnewho was breakfast presenter at Grant Broadcasters River 94.9 in Queensland.

WAU Management expands with Jeremy Stones

WAU Management, Unified’s management division, added Jeremy Stones to its staff. Stones will operate out of the newly acquired Unified Sydney office in Woolloomooloo, and will bring with him The Delta Riggs, who are gearing up for a massive stadium tour supporting Foo Fighters in February and March.

Stone’s arrival follows the recent appointment of Nick Yates as Head of Management.

New owner for Sydney’s Roxbury club

The Roxbury in Glebe changed hands. New owner Tim Condon is keeping the music alive upstairs while the ground floor will focus on craft beer and dining. After a revamp, the Roxbury relaunches in March. Condon owned another music venue, the Newington Inn, but sold that recently to Solotel.

Katya Quigley to lecture on radio

Long time ABC radio and TV presenter and producer Katya Quigley is new Radio Lecturer at AFTRS Radio, taking over from Jen Oldershaw.

Perth Theatre Trust begins new era

Perth Theatre Trust (PTT) took over on January 1 from AEG Ogden (Perth) as manager of four State Government venues. It has kept on 64 staff from the 74 employed by AEG Ogden. Key PTT venue personnel are Helen Stewart (Manager, His Majesty’s Theatre), Alice Jorgensen (Manager, State Theatre Centre), Garry Snowdon (Manager, Albany Entertainment Centre) Kate Bell (Manager, Subiaco Arts Centre) and Sarah Wells (Assistant Manager, State Theatre Centre).

PTT has a new three-year strategic plan, new branding and logo, a new website and announced collaborations with the Perth International Arts Festival and the Fringe World Festival for the first time.

SCA’s new PR Director

Stella Katsaros replaces Lee Curtis as Southern Cross Austereo’s National PR Director. Her previous employers included Network Ten and SBS.

Tim Wong-See does Nova’s late nights

Tim Wong-See is heard on Nova’s late nights weekdays show, which is broadcast to Sydney, Melbourne Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.

SBS director of TV exiting

SBS director of television for three years, Tony Iffland, is leaving the network. He launched National Indigenous Television and commissioned a roster of local comedy, drama and documentary shows. Following his departure, SBS will integrate its TV and online content sectors under Marshall Heald in a new role as Director, Television and Online Content.

Annabelle Sheehan to head SA Film Corporation

Annabelle Sheehan, one time Head of the Film and Television division at The Australian Film, Television and Radio School and CEO and Senior Agent at entertainment talent rep RGM Artist Group, takes over as new CEO of the South Australian Film Corporation in mid-February.

Aussie musician turned lawyer appointed to AMBC board

Musician-cum-lawyer Nathanael Kitingan was made a director of the Australia Malaysia Business Council Victoria. Born in Melbourne to a Sabah political family, he was in Christian ska band Sounds Like Chicken from 1999 to 2007, Their releases for Boomtown Records had extensive triple j airplay. He became a lawyer in 2006 and works in a senior role at M+K Lawyers.

CIAF appoints Janina Harding

As part of a five-year strategy to grow the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF), Janina Harding is new Artistic Director. Her CV includes two terms on Australia Council’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts board, Creative Producer of Melbourne Indigenous Arts Festival and Blak Nite Cinema, and Indigenous Arts Program Manager for City of Melbourne since 2001.
