Musical Chairs: Exec changes at WMG; JB Hi Fi MD quits; Shane Mitchell to head Media Corp; Andy Young back on air; Changes at Sony Vic

Three senior executive changes at Warner Music Group

Stu Bergen, President of Warner Music Group's International Recorded Music, is given extra duties. Bergen, who also oversees global marketing, the Alternative Distribution Alliance, and Classics, will now also run WEA Corp.

Alternative Distribution Alliance President Mike Jbara takes over as President of WMG Technology & Business Processes. The role was created after the departure of Brian Roberts, EVP of Strategy and Operations who on March 30 becomes EVP and Chief Operating Officer at the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) overseeing global operations.

James Steven is promoted to EVP of Communications and Marketing,responsible for WMG’s worldwide communications and corporate marketing, including external and internal communications, investor relations, social responsibility, and special events.

JB Hi Fi Marketing Director Scott Browning quits

JB Hi Fi’s Marketing Director of the past eleven years, Scott Browning, has resigned to take a new life’s direction. Highly respected in the industry, he was credited with JB Hi Fi’s growth. A replacement has not been announced.

Browning, who began on March 15 2004, is the third major departure in recent years. CEO and Managing Director Richard Uechtritz quit in May 2010. Last year his replacement Terry Smart left to be replaced by Richard Murray.

Kathryn Scott gets senior position at Kathy Evans Voice Management

Kathy Evans Voice Management appointed Kathryn Scott to Senior Agent and Business Development Manager. At the age of 21, Scott founded and directed promotions agency FK Promotions, before casting talent with Maura Fay Productions for Channel 9’s McLeod’s Daughters series, and was Senior Account Manager in Brisbane for Australian Radio Network’s 97.3fm.

Shane Mitchell to head Media Corp’s digital

Australian-born Shane Mitchell is appointed to Head of Digital at Singapore national broadcaster Media Corp. He replaces Nick Fawbert who left after six months. Mitchell was previously at Sydney’s Reddo Media Services, which specialises in app development and marketing, and branded content.

Foley and Mitchell booking MEMO Music Hall

Melbourne venue owners and programmers Peter Foley and Richard Mitchell are now booking MEMO Music Hall as a recording and rehearsal space. The venue, in St. Kilda, began in 1924 as a dance hall, then a picture theatre, and in the 1960s was TELEFIL recording and film studios.

Grayboy Entertainment expanding

Sydney-based Grayboy Entertainment, which creates shows and supplies acts for the cruise industry, is scouting for a variety artist booking agent.

Andy Young back on air

After a break from the industry, former DMG regional announcer and Austereo producer Andy Young is back on air at BayFM in Brisbane. He teams up on The Bay Drive show with comedienne Ali Plath.

Changes at Sony Music Victoria

Sony Music Entertainment’s Victorian Promotions & Publicity Representative Emily White has left, with her duties taken over by Krystal Hingston.

Price duo head to Bundaberg

After Michael Price landed the gig of CD at 4BU/Hitz FM Bundaberg, his wife Nikki Price relinquished her role as Senior Writer with 97.3FM/4KQ Brisbane to Fiona Smith.

Sundae rises to top at bFM

Hugh Sundae, who started at Auckland radio bFM as a volunteer at 14, has worked his way up to its GM. In between he was on TV in NZ and UK, was Digital Entertainment Producer for NZ Herald and staged the NZ Film Awards.

Erin Grech at Fairfax Radio

One time Macquarie Regional Radio and SCA staffer Erin Grech joined Fairfax Radio’s Creative Team after Greg Jennings moved to SEN 1116.

ARIA-winning Hayward, Hosey, set up Next Episode

Aaron Hayward and Mike Hosey, both with art and design backgrounds in the Australian and UK music industries, set up Sydney-based graphic design agency Next Episode.

Former Creative Director at Debaser, Hayward won four ARIAs for cover art and worked with Empire Of The Sun, Powderfinger, Paul Kelly, Pete Murray, Coldplay, Clare Bowditch, 360, Angus Stone, Bernard Fanning and Guy Sebastian.

Hosey had stints in design companies in Australia and New Zealand, and most recently was Art Director at Atlantic Records in London working with Ed Sheeran, Charlie XCX, Phil Collins, Plan B, Wiley and Mystery Jets.

Mix 104.9 Darwin drive host Phil Dean is leaving Darwin for Brisbane.

Endemol Shine Group, the combined Shine International and Endemol Worldwide Distribution global content creator, producer and distributor, announced that in Australia and New Zealand, EWD’s Kirsten Cargill remains as Senior Sales Director and Shine’s Lisa Higginson remains as Sales Director. Both are based in Sydney.
