Paul Murray confirms he is leaving 2UE

A month ago when Jason Morrison was confirmed as leaving the 2UE drive show, it was being widely reported that Paul Murray was also on the way out.

4BC breakfast host leaves

Mary Collier is leaving her breakfast gig at 4BC.

She has presented the show since 2011 alongside Peter Dick and more recently with Kim Mothershaw and Ian Skippen.

“My career switch from law to radio has been an incredibly fulfilling experiment but now it’s time for me to spread my wings and embrace new challenges in the media sphere,” Mary said. READ MORE

 

Kyle & Jackie O say goodbye to 2Day FM 

Before ARN pushed go on their big announcement that Kyle & Jackie O were joining the new 106.5 station (Kiis) in 2014, they aired their final show on 2Day FM.

They spoke to many stars like Delta Goodrem, Eric Bana and Ricky Gervais but they ended their run of over a decade on the station by farewelling their team and their listeners. They then ended with the final Diary – highlighting many moments from 2013.

Hear the final break below which includes Kyle saying: “We’ve loved it here. God we’ve made millions of dollars out of these people. Thank you very much. And we’ve made this company hundreds of millions too, so don’t worry about that.” LISTEN 

Hughesy & Kate sign off

After 12 years, 2,800 shows, over 3500 guests, 60 outside broadcasts, two weddings and the birth of seven children, the final Hughesy & Kate aired on Friday morning live from the Athenaeum Theatre.

Special guests were former Nova 100 journalists, The Project’s Carrie Bickmore and Channel Seven’s Rebecca Maddern, past team members Dave O’Neil, Ed Kavalee and Tim Blackwell, Nathan Buckley, Mick Molloy, Glenn Robbins, Peter Helliar and more.

Matt & Jo also say goodbye

In a very emotional and funny final half hour (or so) of the Matt & Jo Show, the Fox FM breakfast cast have said their goodbyes after 10 years working together.

Matt, Jo, Troy and Adam Richard held their final show on the Fox rooftop in front of staff, family and listeners.

David & Tanya end a 14 year run

The KOFM breakfast show, David & Tanya, have finished up after 14 years together on the station.

Both will be at KOFM in new roles next year. Tanya will remain on breakfast with the station now looking for a co-host. Hear their final break.

Fiveaa’s Keith Conlon retires

Fiveaa Adelaide breakfast announcer Keith Conlon completed his 13 years at the talk station on Friday morning.

When he announced his retirement, Keith said:

“I love the adrenaline rush of producing a breakfast show; you’re live, don’t know what the day’s script will be and have to have your wits about you. I’ll have adrenalin withdrawal and will miss the fantastic team but the hardest part of a breakfast show are the early starts and I’ve been doing that for 13 years. I’m looking forward to having more family time and reading books that aren’t just research for the next day’s interviews.”

Two network drive shows sign off 

Fifi & Jules, the Today network drive show, and Merrick & the Highway Patrol on the Triple M network, have signed off for the final time.

Fifi is moving to Fox FM breakfast with Dave Thornton while Jules is rumoured to be part of the new 2Day FM breakfast show.

Merrick Watts, Julian Schiller and Rachel Corbett are leaving the drive show with Watts possibly joining Lund in 2014.

MOVES

David Penberthy and Mark Aiston will join Jane Reilly on Fiveaa breakfast in 2014.

Sun FM’s Sam Blacker is moving from Alice Springs to work at Snow FM in production and as an announcer.

Matt Smithson is moving into breakfast to read news for Tommy & Meshel on Nova 100 in 2014.

Lauren Brain will now read news in the afternoon and drive across both Nova 100 and smoothfm 91.5 in Melbourne. Lauren used to read for Hughesy & Kate.

AFTRS student Shad Wicker is moving to Darwin to do arvos on Mix 104.9.

Kathryn Jensen is the new producer at Mix 102.3 in Adelaide. She moves from KOFM in Newcastle where she produced for David & Tanya.

triple j breakfast host Tom Ballard is leaving the station after 7 years to focus on his comedy career.

Sean ’The Cowboy’ Hickey has landed his first full-time job in radio at 6IX as their Commercial Producer. Sean recently graduated from The Central Institute of Technology in Perth.
