Major names join together for charity single

Major Australian and international names are joining together to cut a charity single to raise money for the Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation Australia.

The charity was set up by Meg and Al Donnell from Manly in Sydney to get their two young children to a clinical trial in the United States in February to treat them for a fatal and rare genetic condition.

The Foundation’s ambassador, Sebastien Izambard from Il Divo, is flying to Australia on Friday to begin recording the track.

Among those who have agreed to appear are Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, former Savage Garden singer Darren Hayes, Pete Murray, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Diesel, David Campbell, Alex Lloyd, Christine Anu, Luke Steele of Empire of the Sun, Katy Steele of Little Birdy fame, Casey Donovan, Damien Leith, the Australian Children’s Choir and a European orchestra.

Izambard is funding much of the session for A Woman’s Work (Hope For Isla and Jude Project), which will be out on December 5.

The idea is to raise $1.4 million so that either one or both of the Donnell children – five year old Isla and three year old Jude – can get into one of the 15 spots available for the clinical trial.

The Foundation is also planning to raise enough funds to get a trial to be held in Australia to save the lives of Aussie children.
