KLP - Kristy Lee Peters - has officially wrapped the first-ever VITAL Songwriting & Industry Mentorship Program.
First announced last year, the Australian musician and producer's inaugural program offered 10 female and gender expansive artists one-on-one mentoring sessions with industry experts, including music publicist and founder of ms.fitz communications, Anna Fitzgerald, Breezecore Music’s Lachie McQueen, and Tom Honeywill from Late Nite Business and Medium Rare Recordings, over the course of 12 months.
The artists involved were NSW acts including Bella Backe, Chloe Gill, Electra, Elishia, FVNERAL, Grid, Jessi Lowkey, Katie Reid, MARNIEZWORLD and Olivia Coggan.
It can be revealed that two have since signed record deals, two more have inked publishing deals and another has secured a booking agent.
As well as mentoring sessions, the program, supported by Sound NSW, included a 2-day professional development intensive in Sydney, featuring songwriting sessions, workshops, and creative collaboration with peers and mentors, and a $1,000 production grant that went towards mixing and mastering a track developed during the course.
“The VITAL mentorship program was created because I know how valuable it is for emerging artists to have consistent support over a meaningful period of time, not just one meeting or one opportunity, but industry professionals in their corner for an entire year," KLP said.
"From 41 applicants, we selected 10 incredible NSW artists, and watching their growth has been so rewarding. We had huge outcomes, but some of the biggest wins can’t be measured on paper - the confidence they built, the collaborations and friendships that formed, their growth as songwriters, and having a trusted network to turn to while navigating the industry.”
