A new country music and camping festival is set to make its debut in Victoria next year, bringing together some of Australia's biggest country acts for an Easter long weekend celebration.

The inaugural Barunah Country Festival will take place from March 26th-29th, 2027, bringing together three days of live music, camping and traditional rural activities. The all-aged event hopes to offer a celebration of Australian country music and culture, with a mix of established names and emerging talent, alongside everything from speed shearing competitions and farm utility dog trials to campdraft demonstrations and woodchopping.

Tyla Rodrigues will headline the opening night on Friday, March 26th, joined by Ella Hooper, who will perform a special tribute to Linda Ronstadt, alongside Ben Mastwyk & The Honky Tonk Hounds, Misty Harlowe and The Cartridge Family.

Saturday will see Brad Cox take centre stage, with a stacked supporting lineup featuring Lane Pittman, Max Jackson, Zac & George, Bill & Tyler Chambers, William Alexander, the Davidson Brothers, The Ironbark Brothers and Buck Dancer's Choice.

The celebrations will continue after the live performances, with rising country DJ Willie Pake taking over for the Home Station After Party on Saturday night.

Closing out the festival on Sunday, March 28th, will be The Wolfe Brothers, joined by William Crighton, Tori Darke, Sara Berki, Tate Cole and CK & the 45s. The final day will also feature tribute performances celebrating Dolly Parton, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen and Chris Stapleton.

Beyond the music, Barunah Country Festival will make use of its historic surroundings. Once Victoria's largest sheep station, Barunah Plains boasts almost 190 years of history, including an 1866 bluestone homestead and restored heritage buildings such as the original woolshed, stables and shearers' quarters.

Festival organisers and Barunah Plains owners Damian Canny and Sara Langford said: "We wanted to create something that goes beyond a traditional music festival. Barunah Plains has such an incredible history, and the Barunah Country Festival is about bringing that history to life through music, camping, country traditions and a genuine sense of community.

"We live and breathe the history of the property every day, and want people to come for the music, stay for the experience and leave with memories that bring them back year after year," they said.

Ben Mastwyk, who has helped curate the festival's alternative country and honky-tonk offerings, will also serve as MC across the weekend. "I'm thrilled to be part of this truly unique country music and heritage event. The team invited me to program the more alt-country and honky tonk acts," he said.

"Curating these artists against some of Australia's largest country icons has led to a more diverse lineup that will be full of surprising new favourites for the audience. I'll also be delivering MC duties across the event as well as sneaking in a rollicking little country set of bangers with my Honky Tonk Hounds. The historical homestead and heritage experiences on offer really do set this apart as something quite unlike other country music festivals and I'm truly looking forward to what will be a wild long weekend."

While Barunah Plains has previously hosted large-scale events, organisers say tickets for the inaugural festival will be limited to maintain a more intimate atmosphere. Festivalgoers can choose between individual day passes for Saturday and Sunday or camping packages covering the Easter weekend.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday, November 12th, at 10am (AEDT) via the official festival website, with early bird camping tickets available until November 30th. See here for details.
