BMG boss reveals Kylie Minogue is learning Logic in lockdown

Even the world’s biggest pop stars are learning new skills in lockdown.

Kylie Minogue’s 15th studio album is on the way, with BMG president Alistair Norbury confirming Minogue has been using her time in isolation to write and record new music.

Norbury also offered an update on Natalie Imbruglia’s forthcoming record, revealing the Aussie icon’s first full original album in over a decade will now be released next year.

Chatting with Music Week, he said Imbruglia has finished eight songs since starting the project.

As for Minogue, it’s unclear when we should expect her forthcoming release, but Norbury admitted she’s been getting more involved in the production side of things in her home studio.

“Kylie Minogue is learning to use Logic. She’s got herself a home studio and decided that, if there’s one thing she can do during this time, it’s to learn to engineer and record her own vocals,” he said.

Minogue has been working closely with Jamie Nelson on expanding her creative output, even having “Zoom lessons” with the BMG VP of A&R.

“Kylie’s learning to get herself to a place where she can be creative during this time.”

The record is expected to include music that Minogue worked on with Mousse T (Germany) and Alex Gaudio (Italy) prior to lockdown, as well as Madonna collaborator Mirwais.
