Josh Pyke Partnership returns in 2016

PRESS RELEASE:

Josh Pyke, in conjunction with APRA, is bringing back the Josh Pyke Partnership to 2016, awarding a lucky Australian musician with a $7500 grant to kick-start their music career!

In addition to the financial reward, the winning artist will receive mentorship from Josh Pyke himself and a meeting with Gregg Donovan (Wonderlick Entertainment) and Stephen Wade (Select Music).

The partnership will allow the winning artist to establish and execute a business plan, which will support the progression of their music career.

“Bringing back the JP Partnership for the third year is really exciting,” says Pyke.

“Last year’s winner Gordi has gone from strength to strength and we had more entries than ever before.

“There’s so much great music being made and it’s always a challenging thing when you’re starting out, so it’s great to know that with APRA’s help we are making a small difference.”

Gordi was hand picked by Josh, out of hundreds of applicants, early in 2015 to receive the grant.

“I was incredibly fortunate to be the recipient of the JP Partnership in 2015,” she says.

“The sort of financial support it provides for a musician starting out goes a very long way and for me, meant a lot more time in the studio that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford.”

Since winning the grant the Sydney-based singer/songwriter has been nominated for a J Award for Unearthed Artist of the year and been the number one most played artist on triple j Unearthed.

She was also chosen to showcase at BIGSOUND in Brisbane and CMJ in New York, has signed international booking agent deals in the US and UK and is currently in the process of finalising an international record deal.

“Josh is a fantastic mentor and to be able to hear about his experience and perspective of the music industry was inspiring.”

Applicants must not be signed to a recording or publishing company and must submit a business plan outlining how they would use the $7500 grant.

Entries are now open and will close on March 31, 2016. A winner will be announced shortly after.
