Josh McNicol named GM of Eventbrite in APAC region

After just 10 months at Eventbrite, Josh McNicol has been elevated to general manager for the Asia Pacific region.

McNicol joined the global independent ticketing company in January as head of marketing, powering more than 330,000 events in the region last year.

He replaces Phil Silverstone, who has relocated to San Francisco to as SVP of sales & operations for Eventbrite.

In his new role, which is effective immediately, McNicol will direct a growing team of over 40 staffers across its Australia, New Zealand and Singapore offices.

“In joining Eventbrite at the beginning of this year, I was immediately inspired by the company’s mission — to bring the world together through live experiences,” says McNicol.

“We’re doing this by connecting an underserved market with world-class technology that helps event creators run and grow their events – and their businesses.”

McNicol has more than 13 years of experience building strong teams and driving innovative marketing strategy at local and global technology brands including Square and Temple & Webster.

At Square, McNicol established and led teams working across marketing and acquisition, brand, and strategy both in Australia and in San Francisco, where he led Square’s global brand marketing team.

Eventbrite helps anyone sell tickets to events, and has grown into a global ticketing and event technology platform that powers live experiences in 170 countries around the world.

“Events and live experiences offer people the unique opportunity to create memories, build community, and connect with the world around them,” added McNicol.
