Jen Cloher and Dan Sultan Hold Onto Top Spots In The Community Radio Charts

The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week Jen Cloher holds onto #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart, with Dan Sultan maintaining #1 in the Amrap Regional Chart.

Jen Cloher has continued her presence at #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart with ‘Regional Echo’. Jen Cloher’s self-titled album, which is her fourth LP, was FBi Radio’s Album of the Week, PBS FM’s Album of the Week, Triple R’s Album of the week, and featured in 2Ser’s Servin Up. Dan Sultan has held onto #1 in the Amrap Regional Chart with the track ‘Kingdom’. The Bombay Royale have moved up to #2 in the Amrap Metro Chart with ‘I Love You Love You’. Band members The Skipper and The Mysterious Lady stopped by The Breakdown on Melbourne station PBS FM, where they brought in a couple of their favourite vinyl records to play, and discussed their new album Run Kitty Runand the inner workings of the group. The Bombay Royale’s latest album was 2SER’s Album of the Week, and featured in PBS FM’s Top 10 and Triple R’s Soundscapes, with ‘I Love You Love You’ listed on SYN’s Sweet 16. Gold Class are charting at #3 in the Amrap Metro Chart, with their latest track ‘Get Yours’ making its debut appearance in the charts. Evan and Adam from the band stopped by The Breakfast Spread on PBS FM in Melbourne to chat about their brand new record Drum, the band’s whirlwind past 18 months, which included a European tour, and what it was like finalising the record at Gareth Liddiard’s (The Drones) private ranch. Black Cab debuts at #5 in the Amrap Metro Chart with ‘Prelude’. Andrew from Black Cab joined Test Pattern on his hometown station of Triple R Melbourne. He chatted about preparing for live performances, which includes Taiko drumming and a live screening of the inspiration for the release, the classic anime film Akira. He also discussed the challenge of not re-appropriating the original score and the uncertainty around how people will react to their re-imagining in a live setting. Black Cab’s album (Akira) was included in PBS FM’s Top Ten and Triple R’s Soundscapes, with the charting track ‘Prelude’ featuring in Edge Radio’s New Music List, with further airplay from Heritage FM in WA, FBi Radio and Vox FM in NSW as well as Southern FM, One FM and 3WAY-FM in VIC.

Melanie Dyer takes out #5 in the Amrap Regional Chart with ‘Save My Cents’. Davey Lane has moved up to #6 in the Amrap Metro Chart with ‘Taurus All Apart’.Davey joined Radio City on PBS FM in Melbourne to chat about how he’s been “pottering around” with this album for over 2 years in his home studio. He talks about how he feels this record is his “love letter to pop music through the ages” and also let slip that he’s itching to get onto the next release. The Coconut Kids enter the Amrap Regional Chart at #7 with ‘Sugar’. Okenyo joined Agenda on her hometown station of FBi Radio Sydney to chat about her goal of empowering women through writing this particular track. She also spoke about how she was inspired to write this song while performing in plays along the east coast, and discussed the broader themes of equality of women in the corporate world. Jed Rowe takes out #9 during his fourth week in the Amrap Regional Chart with the song ‘Tailem Bend’.
