INXS’ label releases statement following boating accident

Petrol Records, the label run by INXS' longtime manager Chris Murphy, has released a statement following news Tim Farriss had ripped off his ring finger in a boating accident.

"Petrol Records can confirm INXS band member Tim Farriss has been involved in a serious accident that resulted in his hand being caught in an electric anchor winch," the statement reads.

"The accident has caused permanent damage to Tim’s left hand and one of his fingers has been severed. He has undergone two extensive operations to reattach his finger. Tim is now at home undergoing further treatment to assist with his recovery."

The label said Farriss was treated at the Royal North Shore hospital for a week where heunderwent two operations including a six-hour surgery to reattach his finger.

Murphy, who signed the band to Petrol Records five years ago, said: "Tim is now home from the hospital with him family and undergoing physiotherapy as part of the recovery process. He is getting the best possible care and we hope with time he will regain movement in his finger.This was a terrible accident, we are all here to support him."
