Got Love Initiative sees Thundamentals raise funds for NCIE

Widely known for their thought provoking lyrics and positive messages, Hip Hop outfit Thundamentals have today announced details of the next chapter of their philanthropic enterprise, the ‘Got Love Initiative’ with the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence as the chosen partner for 2016. “We are lucky to have had the opportunities to build a career here doing what we love. We have a platform to be heard, to tell our stories and I think the ‘Got Love Initiative’ was partly born out of a desire to support other members of our community in the sharing of their stories”, says Tuka.

“I feel like it is important to stress the fact that we are by no means social justice experts. We are musicians first and foremost, not politicians. But we are also citizens who are passionate about the entirety of our society. We wanted to help support an organisation that is on the front line day in and day out serving the community, in a tangible way. We feel like the biggest way we can contribute is to raise additional funds to further support organisations in the programs they are already undertaking. With that being said, it is our great honour to announce our partnership with the National Centre Of Indigenous Excellence for the 2016 ‘Got Love Initiative’ ” states Jeswon.

As explained by April Long, General Manager Programs & Partnerships at NCIE, funds raised will aid their organisation in more ways than one.

“This is a partnership we’re really proud of. The ‘Got Love Initiative’ funds that are being raised are going to enable 50 young people to jump off the bus, come into the centre and enjoy our after school program where they’ll get to do arts and cultural activities, have a healthy dinner and also participate in sporting activities. But more importantly be connected as a young generation of Indigenous leaders who are going to pave the way for the future of Australia”.

Fans will be able to purchase Thundamentals new range of ’Got Love’ merchandise from their upcoming ‘Never Say Never Tour’ and online from here.

To donate money through the purchase of their new song ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’, fans have been asked to nominate an amount of money towards the charity in exchange for the song with 100% of the proceeds going to the ‘Got Love Initiative’ – Go Here to nominate.

Launched in 2015, funds from the Got Love Initiative were raised on the bands ‘Elephant In The Room Tour’ through the purchase of a t-shirt designed specifically for the initiative. Sold online and throughout the tour, all profits went directly to The Asylum Seeker Centre in Newtown, their partner for 2015, where Thundamentals fans dug deep, purchasing the shirts en masse, raising a total of $20,0096.26.
