Game on: Deezer launches Xbox One app in Australia

Deezer has launched a new app that enables Australian subscribers who are also users of Microsoft’s Xbox One game console and new Xbox One X to listen to music while battling giants and enemy soldiers.

It is part of a roll-out to the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, New Zealand, Brazil, and other countries where the Xbox One is available.

They will get 53 million tracks. Xbox One users can download the app on their console to try it free for 90 days.

“Just as every game has its own soundtrack, gamers using Deezer for Xbox can get into their own personal Flow or listen to any number of mixes and playlists while they play, creating a much more immersive and personal environment,” said Jorge Rincon, VP of North America.

“Additionally, gamers that do want to give their eyes a break from the game can still listen to all their favourite tracks using their console as a music system,”

In terms of global movement, Sony’s PlayStation 4 consolehas outsold Xbox One 2 to 1, with 60 million consoles sold in its first 3 ½ years.

Spotify has been on Xbox One since mid-2017, and is the only streamed music on the device since Microsoft closed Groove Music.

The Interactive Games and Entertainment Association revealed Australia’s video game industry generated $2.958 billion in revenue in 2017.

Sales of accessories for the PS4 and Xbox One rose by 25%.

On a global level, research by data research company Nielsen says that on average, gamers spend a little over six hours each week playing video games.
