First four speakers announced for WAMCon

First four speakers announced for WAMCon

The first four of 50 speakers are announced for WAMCon, held Friday November 3 and Saturday 4 at the State Theatre Centre as part of WAMfest.

They are:

  • Keith Harris OBE from London. The long time manager of Stevie Wonder was also GM of Motown (working with Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson and Rick James) as well as at EMI and Transatlantic Records
  • Sean Bohrman (US), founder of Burger Records, responsible for over 500 releases from the likes of The Black Lips, Brian Jonestown Massacre, King Khan, Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall, plus the Burgerama Music Festival
  • Helen Marcou (Victoria), co-founder of the Save Live Australia’s Music (SLAM) movement and consultant to government on matters of live music policy and sexual assault of women in venues
  • Nick Findlay (NSW), who recently took over as Music Director at triple j

Set up to offer advice to help aspiring players “navigate their way outta the jungle and into success city.”

Organiser WAM made new additions to the 2017 program, in the way of fresh masterclasses and Burgers & Bookers sessions.

Early bird passes include The QuayNote Boat Party, one-on-one industry networking meetings, and radio pitching opportunities (including triple j!), free entry to the WAMfest opening party, masterclasses and all paid WAMfest live showcases and after-parties.

Available from the website, the deadline for the first release early bird is Monday September 11 with $135+BF for WAM members and $175+BF non-members.

The second release of early bird tickets is $155+BF for WAM members and $195+BF non-members has a deadline of Friday September 22.

If tickets are still available, the third release of standard tickets ($180+BF and $225+BF) runs out on Thursday November 2 at 11.30 pm.

Tickets on the day are $250 + BF.
