Chris Twite joins Opera House’s Music at the House

Sydney Opera House has announced that Chris Twite will join the Music at the House programming team as Senior Producer, Contemporary Music.

For the past six years Twite has been the Promoter for Handsome Tours/Civil Society, one of Australia’s leading independent concert promoters. During this time, Twite presented a wide range of international acts including Autechre, The Cinematic Orchestra, Grizzly Bear, The National, Japandroids, Jamie xx, SBTRKT, Thurston Moore, The xx, and most recently the sold-out tours for Future Islands and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.

Since 2004, Chris has also been a presenter on Sydney community radio station FBi 94.5 FM and is the current host of their Tuesday Drive time show, ’Arvos’. He starts in his new job on Monday.

Ben Marshall, Head of Contemporary Music at Sydney Opera House said, “As well as being a genuine easy-going guy, Chris Twite is a formidable talent as a rigorous promoter and talent spotter with a terrific artistic sensibility that I’ve been watching for an opportunity to work with again. He’s picked and secured acts as diverse as SBTRKT, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Gold Panda very early on and has already contributed mightily to our program in his previous role supplying us with artists. Chris will make a superb arts programmer as part of the Music team at the Opera House and we’re very proud to welcome him here.”

Twite added, “Sydney Opera House is an icon in the cultural landscape of Australia and I am excited to be taking on this new role within its diverse program. With Music at the House, Ben Marshall is programming some incredible acts and I can’t wait to join the team.”

Upcoming Music at the House performances include Angus & Julia Stone, Boy & Bear, Pat Metheny Unity Group, Nils Frahm, Max Richter, The Gloaming, Damon Albarn and Violent Femmes.
