Australian Social Media 50 – Allday sees success across all mediums

Everybody’s favourite Melbourne cult rapper Allday (or Allday Chubby Boy depending on who you ask) has seen quite a bit of movement on the Australian Social 50 this week, moving up a cool five spots to #26 from 31, overtaking John Butler Trio and Ricki Lee amongst others.

Allday’s strongest channels are Facebook and Instagram where he is tied for both at a scoring of #21 out of all other Australian artists. His Facebook hosts many necessary updates which always perform well, but as is always the case with Allday, it’s his fan interaction that garners the most interest, it’s what he excels at.

For example, the post announcing his appearance and a headliner at Come Together festival garnered 1.2k likes, hours later he posted a screen shot showing fan messages trying to get him to shave his head, inevitably creating even more interest, interactions and likes. That post at time of publishingsits at 4.1k (plus 32 shares). This post took off so much that Tone Deaf even ran an article on it.

His Instagram sits just below his Facebook following, clocking up a whopping 203k followers. Allday’s most successful post this week was a black and white photograph of himself which now has 10k likes and just under 300 comments.

Allday’s Twitter output is much less formal with an overall rating of #27, plugging much of the same Facebook content with Instragram cross posts. However he expertly fillsthe gaps with ’spurr of the moment’ thoughts which individually don’t do much, but the sheer volume of the likes and retweets add up, especially with the high average his posts receive.

Allday sees similar stats across all his social media rankings and overall is an incredibly versatile independent musician when it comes to dealing with it. It should be noted that heuses the app Snapchat to incredible effect as well, garnering even more fan interaction and removing another artist-fan barrier.
