APRA, FBi, get NSW Government funding

The Australasian Performing Rights Association Ltd (APRA) and FBi Radio were among artists and cultural organisations who shared $18.5 million in NSW Government funding through Arts NSW’s Arts and Cultural Development Program.

APRA got $60,000 to present Sounds Australia next year to teach the music industry on how to access international markets, broker partnerships and grow income streams.

FBi (Free Broadcast Incorporated) received $45,000 towards its professional development program Tracks in association with Elefant Traks, Music NSW and Blacktown Arts Centre. Set up to build audiences for music in western Sydney, it includes a Music Open Day with training for volunteers and three events.

Bankstown Arts Centre got funding of $100,000 for its artistic program, which includes Artists In Residence and intercultural exchange.

Bankstown Youth Development Service Inc ($150,000) will expand its community interaction which includes hip hop sessions.

The Cad Factory ($70,000) in the Western Riverina delivers multi-arts outcomes involving music, performance and visual arts. Its annual program includes education, advocacy and skills development.

With its $150,000 grant, Bermagui-based Four Winds will expand its full-year program of creative projects that includes concerts, events, workshops, professional development, learning and access programs, commissions and artist residencies.

With $55,000, Redfern-based Gadigal Information Service Aboriginal Corporation can continue to professionally develop Aboriginal musicians and artists through two key programs. Klub Koori is a six-part series of showcasing emerging talent, while Yabun Festival is a one-day event in January.
