Fifty emerging musicians from around Australia get to make demos with some of the country’s best producers and in the best studios this month, courtesy of American Express.

Some like SEABASS, Goodnight Japan, Fools, Asha Jeffries, Human Movement, Before The King and Mean Times have already made a name for themselves on the live circuit.

Music Backers Studio Week is part of the $1 million American Express Music Backers Fund.

Among the producers involved are Anna Laverty, Simon Cohen, Rohan Sforcina, Mick Wordley, James Mangohig, Antonia Gauci, Ian Haug, Yanto Browning, Mitta Norath, Aaron Dobos and Adam Rhodes.

The studios involved in the project include Studio 301 and Forbes Street in Sydney; Sing Sing and Heads Gap in Melbourne; Airlock in Queensland; Mixmasters in Adelaide; Studio G in the Northern Territory; Tommirock in Newcastle and Studio Circuit on the Gold Coast.

Some of the sessions have already begun.

Each winner received a virtual mentoring workshop with an industry leader in artist management, producing and music media prior to heading into studio.

They have the opportunity to submit their recorded track to the Music Backers judging panel, who will then select one artist to receive a $5,000 grant to go towards releasing and promoting their music.

The judges represent American Express, record companies, artists, tour promoters, venue operators, media and streaming services.
