Abbe May meets Sampa The Great at the top of the community radio charts

The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week, Sampa the Great holds onto #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart, whilst Abbe May rises to #1 in the Amrap Regional Chart.

Sampa the Great has remained at #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart with ‘Rhymes to the East’. Sampa the Great joins The Breakfast Spread on PBS FM Melbourne, where she chatted all about her second album Birds And The Bee9. She talks about recording the track ‘Healings’ in the dark, creating an album that was spacious, vulnerable, and free of limitations, and also the importance of creating a community within a live audience. Abbe May has jumped into #1 in the Amrap Regional Chart with ‘Love Decline’. Jeremy Neale ascends into #2 in the Amrap Metro Chart with the infectious track ‘Small Talk’. His first debut album Getting The Team Back Together was recently reviewed on 4ZZZ Brisbane’s website, available to read here. Debuting at #2 in the Amrap Regional Chart is Kira Puru, who also appears at #9 in the Amrap Metro Charts, with the track ‘Tension’. The pop track, with a hypnotic melody, was included in SYN’s Sweet 16, Edge Radio’s New Music List as well as FBi Radio’s New Music List, with additional airplay from Coast FM, Noosa FM and Fraser Coast FM in QLD, 2SEA, 2BOB, 2NVR and 2SER in NSW, 107.3 HFM and Voice of the Avon in WA, 5BBB and Three D Radio in SA as well as 979fm, Triple R, OCR FM, 96.5 Inner FM, 3WBC, 3MGB, 3SYN and 3MDR in VIC.

Miss Blanks takes out #3 in the Amrap Metro Chart this week with ‘Skinny Bitches’. The recently released EP, Diary Of A Thotaholic, from the Brisbane based artist, was included in PBS FM’s Top 10, Triple R’s Soundscapes and was also SYN’s Local Album of the Week. The charting track was included in 4ZZZ’s Top 20, with additional spins from 2RRR and 2BOB in NSW, RTRFM and 107.3 HFM in WA, PBS FM and OCR FM in VIC, as well as Three D Radio, Fleurieu FM, WOWFM and 5 Triple Z in SA.

This Way North debuts at #3 in the Amrap Regional Chart with ‘Make It Work’. Cat and Leisha from the Melbourne duo joined Breakfast with Caitlin on RTRFM to chat about touring internationally, how they met whilst they were at a festival overseas, and how the sunsets in Yukon, Canada, last for hours during the summer. Bed Wettin’ Bad Boys enter the Amrap Metro Chart at #4 with ‘Plastic Tears’. The Sydney four-piece’s second album, Rot, was reviewed on 4ZZZ Brisbane’s website, which is available to read here. The new record has received an inclusion in PBS FM’s Top Ten and Triple R’s Soundscapes, which features the ragged power pop-rock track, ‘Plastic Tears’.

Dan Parsons makes his first appearance in the Amrap Regional Chart at #4 with ‘Here Goes Nothin’. The Stress Of Leisure debut at #5 in the Amrap Metro Chart with ‘Pulled Pork’. Heaps Good Friends enter the Amrap Metro Chart at #6 with ‘I Could Eat A Full Packet of Yo Yo’s’. Watch an energetic live performance of the charting track from the Adelaide based trio, as featured via Amrap Pages on station websites including 5BBB and Radio Adelaide in SA, as well as 2GLF, 2BBB and FBi Radio in NSW. The dancefloor pop banger, which features driving bass lines and teasing arpeggios, was included in SYN’s Sweet 16 as well as FBi Radio’s New Music List.

Debuting at #6 in the Amrap Regional Chart is Andrew Swift with ‘Reckless Desires’. Lazertits take out #8 in the Amrap Metro Chart with the track ‘New Friend’.
