TMN Hot 100: Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line end Sheeran’s reign, set new chart-first

The new year has brought with it a new #1 at commercial radio. After seven unbroken weeks riding high on the TMN Hot 100, Ed Sheeran’s streak has come to an end.

Succeeding the hitmaker is collaborative single ‘Meant To Be’ by Bebe Rexha featuring country duo Florida Georgia Line. Debuting at #44 late last year, the track roseswiftly up the chart, including this week’s profound jump to #1 from outside the Top 10.

Crowned Most Added in November, ‘Meant To Be’ marks both Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s first ever #1 on the chart. Not only this, it’s the first time in Hot 100 history that a country act has reached #1.

The next best peak on the TMN Hot 100 from a country artist comes from Aussie Kasey Chambers with 2002’s breakthrough anthem ‘Not Pretty Enough’ (#3). Shania Twain’s brand of infectious country-pop got her as far as #4 on ‘I’m Gonna Getcha Good’ (#4). More recently, Sam Hunt’s ‘Body Like A Back Road’ peaked at #5, while also topping the TMN Country airplay chart at the same time.

Florida Georgia Line have plenty more to cheer about this week as their other commercial collab – ‘Let Me Go’ alongside Hailee Steinfeld and Alesso – sits comfortably at #16, albeit falling slightly from #13.

It’s now clear that the country crossover effect is back andhealthier than ever at commercial radio.
