Indian soul singer Hanita Bhambri has taken out the title of Project: Aloft Star Asia Pacific and won the opportunity to record and release a single and music video through Universal Music Group.

The Asia Pacific edition of the global talent search saw five finalists (Australia’s High Tropics, Southeast Asia’s Nate Nontree from Thailand, India’s Bhambri, South Korea’s Blah and Greater China’s Eric Kung)  from the region flown to South Korea to battle it out on the Aloft Seoul Myeondong stage.

“The energy and excitement in the room from both the guests and the contestants was palpable. Each of the five bands did a phenomenal job in their performances, it was really hard for us to choose one final winner,” managing director and CEO, India and South Asia, Universal Music Group Devraj Sanyal said.

“It was really close, but in the end, we were all very impressed by Hanita Bhambri’s showmanship and her original piece really moved me.”

Sunny Coast boys High Tropics headed over to South Korea with Aussie surrogate Alex Dyson but ultimately lost out to Bhambri.

“I feel so blessed to be chosen as the ultimate winner. Music has always been a passion of mine and I’m so thankful to Aloft Hotels and Universal Music Group for giving me this opportunity to follow my dreams,” said Bhambri of her win.

“I can’t wait to share my music with new fans around the world.”
