What you need: almost two million tune in to INXS biopic

The two-part INXS biopic  Never Tear Us Apart has been a ratings boost for Seven Network. The first part, which aired last night stormed to the top, with 1.974 million viewers tuning in.

It even torpedoed Nine Network’s move to cash in on the current hysteria surrounding the release of Schapelle Corby by moving a docudrama about her from tonight to last night. The Corby event drew just 1.022 million viewers, apparently leading Nine Network Chief Dave Gyngell to quip, “If only Schapelle could sing,”

Likewise, the launch of the Australian version of So You Think You Can Dance Australia? – with Paula Abdul as judge and Carrie Bickmore as host – had disappointing results, with only 466,000 tuned in.

In the meantime, INXS’s The Very Best Of has been certified double-Platinum. The band’s long-time manager Chris Murphy has also released his autobiography. Next week’s ARIA chart should certainly see Hutchence and co. dominate sales.
