'Weird Al' Yankovic is bringing his massive ‘Mandatory’ world tour to Australia, it was announced last night.

The singer/comedian has announced the first 65 dates between May 12 to October 6, through North America and Europe. It starts off with a five-night stint at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas and makes its way through the US and Canada during the northern summer.

The eight European shows start on September 9 in Sweden, and take in Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, England and Ireland.

Dates and venues for the Australian run will be announced shortly, the performer’s business people confirmed.

"Weird Al's" latest album Mandatory Fun topped the US charts last year – his first #1 album there. It included parodies of songs by Pharrell Williams, Robin Thicke, Iggy Azalea, Lorde, Crosby Still & Nash, Cat Stevens and Imagine Dragons. It was also the first comedy album to go to #1 in America since Allan Sherman's My Son, the Nut in August 1963.

The album reached #9 on the ARIA chart after its July 2014 release.
