Washington captivates on new single ‘Dark Parts’
The multi-talented Megan Washington is back with a new single ‘Dark Parts’, a taste of her first new album in six years.
Washington hasn’t been heard in 12 months, but the ARIA-winner returns now with an impressive single with a twisted 7/8 time signature (think Dave Brubeck and Thom Yorke).
True to form, ‘Dark Parts’ is full of syncopated rhythms that make you sit up and take notice, while there’s still enough pop sensibilities to make the tune a toe-tapper.
Helping Washington in the creative process were Sam Dixon (Sia, Adele) and Konstantin Kersting (The Jungle Giants, Mallrat, Tones And I) who both helped with production.
“I’m here to have fun,” says Washington. “Why not just record music you like with people you like?”
The forthcoming record will be Washington’s fourth, and first since 2014’s There There, which saw her nominated for two ARIAs.
The lyric video is just as quirky as the song, with all parts hand-drawn and animated by Washington herself.
