Want to work at YouTube Music? Google are in the midst of a global hiring blitz

YouTube Music is shaping up to become a global game-changer in the streaming world, and they’re putting out the call for heavyweights to lead them to greatness.

Over 15 new senior music roles are currently being advertised for positions around the world, covering territories including the US, Germany, Singapore and Latin America.

Interestingly, Google is advertising for a Head of Music Partnerships for YouTube Japan, where YouTube Music has not yet been launched. (They publically launched in 17 different territories, including Australia, US, Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Russia and more.)

While the position isn’t specifically a YouTube Music role, responsibilities include “initiating, structuring, and negotiating high-impact strategic [music] content partnerships.”

They’re also advertising for a music programming manager, “a self-starter who will ramp up quickly to build and maintain Google Play and YouTube’s Music Programming on mobile, web and tablets.”

The senior roles up for grabs require a wealth of experience and expertise within the music industry, the most senior of which is the Director for YouTube/Google Play Music in Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore, which requires 17 years’ leadership experience in the music industry, and will see the successful applicant “drive the future of [YouTube Music] and the industry through 10x thinking.”

Other vacancies include a Head of Catalog position, based in New York or LA, which requires 12 years of industry experience in a role to “develop YouTube strategies for catalogue content working with catalogue labels and legacy artists, helping them fully utilise the YouTube toolset to build and engage their fans.”

Other jobs going in the US include a Manager, Music Label Partnerships in New York, a Manager, Product Partnerships, Music and Premium Subscription, a Technology Manager for Music Business Intelligence, a Public Policy Manager for YouTube Music, plus a Music Programmer Manager in Nashville to “develop and execute the strategy for growing engagement on specific music genres on YouTube,” – which unsurprisingly requires a candidate with experience in country music.

They’re also recruiting a Berlin-based Manager, Music Publishing Partnerships for both Google Play and YouTube Music in Europe.

No job appears to have been posted for UK boss of YouTube Music.
