WAAX sign artist management deal with UNIFIED Music Group
Brisbane rock act WAAX has joined UNIFIED’s management roster in a newly inked agreement.
The band will be managed by Sarah McMillan, who also oversees Slowly Slowly, Mo’Ju and Congrats. The signing comes ahead of supporting rostermates The Amity Affliction on tour.
“Starting this relationship with WAAX was one of my biggest personal highlights of 2020. I have been a big fan since their Wild & Weak EP was released. I attended shows and festivals to see this band and they never disappointed,” McMillan said in a statement.
“[Frontwoman] Maz DeVita is also a bloody Aussie icon for woman in music. I am stoked to be on the team and I hope to serve their already growing community with new music and magical moments like I felt when I was in the audience.”
WAAX released their debut album, Big Grief, in 2019. Since then, the band have collaborated with Illy on the track ‘Cheap Seats’ and took part in triple j’s Like A Version cover series.
“Our label introduced us to Sarah during the height of the COVID lockdown and I knew straight away that she would be the best fit for us, guiding us through such an extremely rough time for the music industry. We’re super excited for the next chapter with Sarah by our side!” DeVita said.
UNIFIED’s artist management roster currently includes Tash Sultana, Vance Joy, Violent Soho, Illy, The Amity Affliction, REMI, Short Stack and more artists. Earlier this month, Matilda Pearl also signed a management deal with UNIFIED.
The company also recently expanded into podcast management with Funny Business.
