WA hip hop album project raises $122k for CanTeen
A 2-CD set featuring Australian hip hop acts as Hilltop Hoods, Drapht, Layla and Koolism raised over $122,000 for youth cancer charity CanTeen.
The Australian Hip Hop Supports CanTeen album, released late last year, was the brainchild of Perth MC Robert Hunter, who died of cancer before its release.
Project coordinator Porsah Laine said the album continues to sell, “still pulling in between two and four thousand dollars every quarter for CanTeen. International sales were higher than expected.”
Over 50 local hip hop artists and execs will be recognised for their contributions to the fund raising at the 3rd Robert Hunter Cup match on Saturday October 25 at the Steel Blue Oval in Bassendean, WA. The teams will celebrate the “rivalry” between the West Coast and East Coast hip hop fraternity with a football game. The West Coast Warriors (featuring album music director and producer Dazastah) play the East Coast Kings. Tickets can be purchased here.
