VASSY Cracks Billboard’s End-Of-Year Dance Chart
VASSY waves the flag on Billboard’s end-of-year charts.
The Australia-born, US-based singer-songwriter cracks the top 20 on the US trade bible’s Dance/Mix Show Airport Songs tally, with “Krazy”. Released in the back half of 2023, “Krazy” lands at No. 17 on the year-end list, besting tracks by the Chainsmokers, Martin Garrix and Charli XCX.
The result “is something to be proud of,” writes VASSY on social media. “Considering it’s such a solid list with major heavy hitter artists…. Hard work & talent can prevail despite all the difficulties in this biz.”
She continues, “I’m so grateful to all the Dance Radio Stations & Program Directors who believe in me & support my music.”
VASSY has an impressive record for flying high on US charts.
Raised in a Greek household in Darwin, VASSY (born Vassy Karagiorgos) made the leap to the US in the early 2010s for a fresh start. The punt paid off when she became the first Australian artist to hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart with her solo number “We Are Young”.
It’s one of her six leaders on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart, including “Bad” (with David Guetta and Showtek), which has surged past 2 billion streams on YouTube, earning a spot in APRA AMCOS’ The 1,000,000,000 List (she’s an ambassador for the performing right society).
Earlier in 2023, VASSY created history when she was awarded Icon status at the 2023 EDMAs, becoming the first-ever female recipient.
VASSY kept delivering the goods in 2024. Earlier in the year, she signed to Universal Music Publishing; released a slew of singles, including an acoustic “Sum Like It Hot” (via Perfect Havoc) and banger “Midnight” (Spinnin’ Records); and in September, she launched her new show VOX Radio on Nova Radio.
There’s more to come, soon. “I look forward to working on a new songs for you guys for 2025,” she insists.
The Greek-Australian star is a standout on the US year-end tallies, which are, predictably, dominated by U.S. artists.
Indeed, all Billboard’s top 10 artists hail from North America (Drake, the Canadian rapper, is the only non-U.S. artist, coming in at No. 4). Taylor Swift leads that list.
Teddy Swims’ hit “Lose Control” comes in at No. 1 on the Hot 100 Songs year-end chart, while Swift does a 1-2 on the 2024 Billboard 200 chart, with The Tortured Poets Department and 1989 (Taylor’s Version), respectively.
Stray Kids, the K-pop act which features Australian bandmembers Bang Chan and Felix, appears at No. 4 on the frame for Top Artists – Duo/Group.
