Unearthed Splendour in the Grass acts announced
Splendour in the Grass just got a little bit bigger with the addition of triple j Unearthed acts Kwame and Seaside.
Hip hop artist Kwame has been honing his craft in Sydney for a few years, releasing his second EP Endless Conversations back in March, which hit with electric single ‘Wow’, following on from his debut 2017 release ‘Lessons Learned’.
The 20-year-old is no stranger to the stage, having already bagged support slots for the likes of Migos, 6lack, and Bliss N Eso, and even jumping up on stage with A$AP Ferg after impressing him backstage.
“Playing SITG this year is such a huge blessing!” he told TMN this morning.
“Massive thank you to triple j unearthed for crowning me winner of the competition! This is a huge achievement for not only myself, but for the state of hip hop in Australia.”
Despite having only formed in 2016, Byron Bay locals Seaside have two EPs and a bunch of singles under their belt.
The quartet just dropped their latest single ‘Golden Girl’ at the start of the month, a four-minute slice of reverb-heavy, dream pop helmed by lead singer Darcy Dexter‘s delicate vocals.
The two acts are continuing the legacy of previous Unearthed performers Airling, Alex Lahey and Tired Lion, and will join the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Lorde, Vampire Weekend, The Wombats and a stack more at the Byron Bay festival next month.
