Triple J veteran Gemma Pike joins Apple Music

It’s a new year, and a new job for triple j stalwart Gemma Pike, who now leads editorial for Apple Music’s trans-Tasman activities.

Pike is named Senior Editorial Lead at Apple Music for Australia and New Zealand, completing a decade-long run with the ABC.

At Apple Music, Pike will guide a team of content creators who interview artists, review records, and power the digital music platform’s editorial campaigns.

Raised in Western Australia, Pike cut her teeth in radio before taking the leap to the Corporation in 2011, initially as music programmer with triple j.

She quickly learned the ropes across programming, producing and presenting, working alongside former triple j music director Richard Kingsmill and others, and went on to serve as acting music director for the network.

At the youth broadcaster, Pike took on high-profile presenter slots, including the J Files and the much-loved Inside the Big Day Out series which rolled out from October 2019.

Most recently, Pike served as Assistant Music Director at triple j.

As Apple Music grows its users base, its editorial scope expands. Last April, Apple started a new Apple Music channel within Apple News, where music fans can find interviews with artists, music news and more.

Globally, Apple Music’s editorial coverage is helmed by Alex Gale, formerly with Billboard, Complex, XXL and Vibe.
