triple j Unearthed has a new Executive Producer: Tommy Faith of Mushroom Music Publishing

Triple j itself had a shakeup recently with the news that it had a new Music Director in Nick Findlay, following the long-serving Richard Kingsmill’s move to Group Music Director. Now, triple j Unearthed is making a change of its own, with Mushroom Music Publishing Creative Manager Tommy Faith stepping into the role of triple j Unearthed Executive Producer.

The creator of one of the country’s foremost tastemaker blogs in Sound Doctrine (named Pedestrian’s Music Blog of the Year in 2012), Faith followed a 2011 internship at Sony Music Entertainment with a job at Warner Music Australia as a customer service rep, before moving into his initial role in A&R. After four years at Warner, he left his role as A&R Manager in 2016 and has spent the last year at Mushroom Group as a Creative Manager.

Now, he returns to a role that is perhaps the most natural evolution of his original concept at Sound Doctrine: discovering raw Australian talent, and giving them a platform outside of the label system. In fact, Unearthed creator Linda Bracken originally envisaged the site as a way to “break the A&R funnel,” believing that “the future of a band’s success in Australia shouldn’t rely on someone’s ability to hire a publicist and an A&R”.

Faith follows in the footsteps of Unearthed’s first producer Janine Googan, first Executive Producer Stephanie Carrick, and Lachie Macara, who departed late last month having been with the station since 2013.

The announcement was made privately, but we’ve reached out to Faith for an official comment.
