triple j presenter/paralympian Dylan Alcott launches new festival Ability Fest

Dylan Alcott is bringing a brand new music festival called Ability Fest to Melbourne’s Coburg Velodrome on Saturday April 7, presented by the Dylan Alcott Foundation, Untitled Group and triple j.

The all-inclusive festival will officially launch the Dylan Alcott Foundation on the day, with the presenter, paralympian and multi grand slam winning tennis player organising 100% of proceeds to go to DAF – a charity organisation that helps young Australians with disabilities

Unsurprisingly, the lineup is full of triple j favourites,and headlined by a B2B DJ set by Flight Facilities and Client Liaison.

The likes of Benson, BOO SEEKA, Ivan Ooze, Jack River, KINGSWOOD, Motez and Tkay Maidza also feature.

None of the artists are getting paid for their performances the lineup, and have all donated their time for the cause.

“Money raised from Ability Fest will offer scholarships, mentoring and grants to applicants to help these individuals achieve their sporting, vocational or personal goals,” said organisers on the official event page.

“This includes, but is not limited to, providing wheelchairs to participate in sport, university scholarships and purchasing equipment to assist in day to day life.”

The festival is set to feature multiple viewing platforms for wheelchair attendees, as well easy access for people of all abilities – while numerous ASLAN translators will stand on stage for mainstage acts.

Untitled Group and DAF hope to shift the paradigm of the current music landscape for young Aussies with disabilities, to better integrate able and disabled bodies at these events by building inclusive environment for all.
