TMN’s Top 5 music videos of the week

TMN’s Top 5 music videos of the week

TMN rounds up the week’s most creative, captivating and entertaining videos.

#1. Peking Duk, Jack River – ‘Sugar’ (SME)

Peking Duk‘s latest big radio single (currently #31 on the TMN Hot 100) captures a huge 90s vibe in the official music video. The clip also features collaborator and vocalist Jack River, with all parties decked out in 90s fashion and surrounded by roller blades and neon signs.

#2. J. Cole – ‘MIDDLE CHILD’ (REP/UMA)

The dark new clip for US rapper J. Cole‘s single ‘MIDDLE CHILD’ was directed by rapper/producer/voice actor Mez. The racially-subversive clip is described by its director as “a flip on Middle America and Middle America’s perspective on blackness, and then a black perspective of blackness”.

#3. DZ Deathrays, Briggs, Jesswar & Trials – ‘Front Row Hustle’ (IOU/MUSH)

This rock/hip hop crossover is the latest display of versatility from DZ Deathrays, and the video clip is a raw, rotating, basement full of artists as each of the rappers take their turn to lay down powerful and politically-charged verses.

#4. Clean Bandit ft. Ellie Goulding – ‘Mama’ (ATL/WMA)

Clean Bandit‘s latest music video for ‘Mama’ is a self-directed clip, which parodies the life of US President Donald Trump (without ever mentioning the POTUS by name). “We wrote this script about a boy whose power was taken away from him as a child and he grew up determined to take that power back,” said Clean Bandit’s Grace Chatto.

#5. Cosmo’s Midnight – ‘C.U.D.I (Can U Dig It)’ (SME)

Sydney twin-producers Cosmo’s Midnight return with their first effort of the year with a self-starring music video to boot. Creatively directed with a mix of amateur-looking photos and still images, the summery clip also includes footage of the recording process.
