Television’s new music show The Sound kicked off with rave reviews and returns on Sunday.

Amy Shark will perform her new hit radio single ‘Everybody Rise’ (currently #9 on the TMN Hot 100). Critically acclaimed WA singer-songwriter John Butler, indie rock outfit Boy & Bear and global pop outfit Sheppard will also perform on episode three.

Also appearing The Sound this Sunday, Angie McMahon will debut a new single, Gordi is set to perform a track from her new record Our Two Skins and rising Kimberly-hailing rapper Dallas Woods will play his triple j hit ‘If It Glitters It’s Gold’.

“I’m excited and proud to play an iconic venue like the Sydney Opera House and bring a special stripped back version of ‘Everybody Rise’ to your lounge room’,” Shark said.

“Our music scene is so special and punches above its weight,” Butler added. “I’m so proud to be a part of this country’s amazing music community and honoured to be invited to play.”

This week’s special guest host – joining Jane Gazzo and Zan Rowe – is radio and television identify (and former Skyhooks guitarist) Red Symons.

Scott Darlow will feature Introducing, a segment spotlighting emerging talent. The Indigenous artist recently signed to Reclusive Records and will perform ‘You Can’t See Black In The Dark’.

“I’m unbelievably excited to be given the chance to play on what will undoubtedly become an iconic Aussie music show and can’t wait for my family and friends to see it!” Darlow said.

The Sound airs each Sunday at 5.30pm on ABC, with catch-up episodes the following Saturday at 12.30pm. The Sound is the creation of Mushroom Vision and licensed to the ABC.

Previous episodes of The Sound are now available to watch on ABC’s iView.
