ABC TV’s live music show ‘The Set’ unveils monster Aussie lineup
Amy Shark, Thelma Plum and Illy are among those confirmed for season two of ABC-TV’s The Set.
Also unveiled this morning were Middle Kids, Boy & Bear, Dune Rats, Cosmo’s Midnight, Sampa The Great, Montaigne, The Teskey Brothers, Marlon Williams, Genesis Owusu, Thandi Phoenix and Adrian Eagle, with more to be announced in coming weeks.
Set at a house party with a 250-strong studio audience and hosted by triple j’s Linda Marigliano and Logie winner Dylan Alcott, the show returns from 10pm Wednesday from Wednesday, August 28 to September 18.
Then it’s from 9.30pm every Wednesday until October 9.
Season one established itself as essential viewing with some stand out moments.
These included one-offs like Vera Blue, Baker Boy and Wafia performing a cover of Neneh Cherry and Youssou N’dour’s 1994 track ‘7 Seconds’ during which Baker Boy slips in a verse in language; The Rubens’ discussion their guitarist’s disability; Ball Park Music‘s sing-along to The Beatles’ ‘Hey Jude; and some of the most frenetic studio dancing to The Presets and Baker Boy’s dancers.
The Set’s premiere episode last October drew 224,000 overnight metros, a figure that it consistently hit throughout the first season.
