TEG partners with MPI Artists for joint venture in Ireland

TEG partners with MPI Artists for joint venture in Ireland

Promoter TEG has set up operations in Ireland as part of its expansion into Europe.

The expansion will take place through its UK division, TEG MJR, which came into being in mid-2019 after TEG bought into it.

The UK operations, based in Bristol, estimates it runs more than 2,000 shows a year, in addition to owning and operating multiple venues and the club night brand Propaganda.

TEG’s new Irish venture is in collaboration with Irish agency MPI Artists, which has a roster of DJs, electronic, rock, pop, comedy and Celtic/folk acts.

MPI also programs festivals and represents Nelly, Snoop Dogg and Obie Trice in the region.

The new division, TEG MJR Éire, will be run by MPI Artists’ Julian O’Brien and Martin Nolan who, according to the announcement, “will work together with TEG MJR to deliver an expansive program of live entertainment experiences to fans across Ireland”. A fresh amount of events will be announced in the next few weeks.

Richard Buck, CEO of TEG MJR, commented: “This new promotions company makes sense from so many angles and the winners will be Irish music fans and artists.

“My team of concert promoters works with a diverse and dynamic roster of artists across multiple territories and we look forward to bringing a plethora of great events across Éire in the years ahead.”

Prior to the pandemic, Ireland’s concert scene was worth €2 billion (AU$3.26 billion) a year and employed 10,000 people. In addition, 4 million people attended Ticketmaster events alone over a 12 month period.

The move from TEG comes at a time when, in an unprecedented move, the Irish Government allocated €50 million ($81.6 million) in its budget for the live entertainment sector last month.

In the last 12 months, TEG has signalled its plans to widen its presence in Asia and Europe, and is looking at opportunities in the US.
