Taylor Swift named Most Influential on Twitter (but only tweeted 13 times this year)

Taylor Swift has only tweeted 13 times this year and closed her account in June  – but that hasn’t stopped social media analysis company Brandwatch from placing her at the top of its annual list of most influential users.

With an influencer score of 98 points out of a possible 100, she beat Liam Payne who scored 97.

Gemma Joyce, a data journalist for Brandwatch, says the list is based on a range of Twitter metrics.

Frequency of tweeting is not important, but genuine engagement is.

MOST INFLUENTIAL FEMALE

Taylor Swift (98)

Katy Perry (96

Kim Kardashian West (96

Demi Lovato (96)

Ellen Degeneres (95

MOST INFLUENTIAL MALE

Liam Payne (97)

Donald Trump, (96)

Justin Bieber (95),

Barack Obama (95)

Cristiano Ronaldo (95)

“While lots of followers, retweets and replies will help, the more influential the people they engage with, the better the score,” Joyce explained in a blog.

Justin Bieber, who’s been a constant on the top 10 list for the last three years, rarely uses Twitter and yet he’s able to generate a huge amount of engagement.”
