Sync Your Calendars: SXSW Sydney Locked In For October 2024
The second annual edition of SXSW Sydney is locked and loaded for the week starting Monday, Oct. 14, 2024.
Announced today (Dec. 14) by TEG, which is producing the event, the showcase and conference smorgasbord will roll out from Oct. 14 through to Sunday, Oct. 20.
Confirmation of the next event is accompanied with a data dive from the inaugural show, which took place from Oct. 15-22 across dozens of spaces and venues from Darling Harbour to Chippendale, on Gadigal Land.
According to organisers, 287,014 guests attended SXSW Sydney, with 97,462 “unique attendees” fronting up.
Reporters from The Brag Media were among the 758 media and press, while almost 35,000 tickets (including badges, wristbands and day passes) were distributed.
“To say SXSW Sydney left a mark on the city in its inaugural year is an understatement,” comments TEG CEO Geoff Jones, who additionally serves as SXSW Sydney chair. “The team pulled together a remarkable grand-scale event that brought together APAC’s creative communities in a way the region had never seen before.
Applications for the 2024 Session Select and Music, Screen and Games showcases will be pushed out in the new year, and will be an open invitation to the community “to get involved and champion the ideas that will shape our futures,” reps say.
“We are thrilled to announce the dates for SXSW Sydney 2024 in partnership with the NSW Government,” adds Jones, “and look forward to opening more doors for innovators across the tech & innovation, music, screen, games and creative industries.”
Sydney is the APAC leg of SXSW and serves as the first expansion city outside of its original home, Austin, Texas, where the event was presented for the first time in 1987.
Colin Daniels led the Sydney show as managing director, helming a team that included Warner Music veteran Simon Cahill as head of marketing and commercial partnerships and Bossy Music founder Claire Collins as named head of music.
