Plans For Sunshine Coast’s Largest Music Venue Revealed

Plans For Sunshine Coast’s Largest Music Venue Revealed

Family hospitality firm The Comiskey Group, the business behind Sandstone Point Hotel and Eatons Hill Hotel, has unveiled plans for another Queensland music venue and pub.

Scheduled to open in late 2024 with a capacity of 2,500, the company is calling the new $35 million project the Sunshine Coast’s largest music venue and hotel.

With a world-class PA and lighting system aimed at local, interstate and international acts, it comes with a mezzanine level and “first-rate entertainment facilities currently unseen in the region.”

The venue is in the master-planned green-star rated community of Stockland Aura, with 10,000 residents and a 10-minute drive from Caloundra and adjacent to the Bruce Highway.

It is also close to Coochin Fields, which The Comiskey Group announced in May as a new 150-hectare outdoor festival site that it will hire out to promoters.

Featuring internal and alfresco dining areas, six bars, a gaming room and function spaces, the music venue and pub will feature as part of Aura’s entertainment hub in the City Centre.

The hub is proposed to include a regional shopping centre, cinemas, restaurants, cafes, medical facilities, an urban university campus, private schools, transit centre and public spaces.

It will back onto an 11-hectare South Bank-style parkland.

“South East Queensland is where we were born and raised,” Comiskey director Rob Comiskey said this morning.

“We are passionate about bringing premium experiences to locations rich with opportunity in this thriving state.

“We have the largest entertainment offering in the Moreton Bay region and felt it only natural to expand into the neighbouring Sunshine Coast.”

He added: “Aura sits just 10 minutes from our Coochin Fields site, so we’re excited to create a thriving epicentre of entertainment for the Sunshine Coast and bring something really special to this already innovative and unique community!”

Josh Sondergeld, project director at Stockland Aura noted that the venue will become a “recreational hub for our residents and visitors to enjoy a family meal, celebrate a milestone or attend a major live international act.”

According to Comiskey Group’s entertainment director Jonathan (Jono) Jackson, “The Sunshine Coast offers an incredible lifestyle, it is an exceptional place to visit, but we saw a gap in the market in terms of live music venues.

“The region’s ongoing population growth creates more demand for premium production opportunities locally.

“Sunshine Coast and Aura residents can expect world-class talent on their doorstep!”
