Submissions open for ARIA’s 2018 Emerging Artist Scholarship
For the second year, ARIA have thrown open the submissions for their Emerging Artist Scholarship that could see an artist or band score touring travel support via award partner Virgin Australia.
The scholarship is open to any Australian artist that is represented by a current ARIA member that hasn’t been previously nominated for any ARIA Awards category before the 2018 awards.
“ARIA is thrilled to announce the return of the ARIA Emerging Artist Scholarship as part of the 2018 ARIA Awards celebrations,” said ARIA chief executive Dan Rosen.
“The applications last year were incredibly strong and a great indication of the quality and depth of our local recording artists. We look forward to working with Virgin Australia again to help more local artists achieve their musical ambitions on the international stage.”
Last year’s inaugural winners, Brisbane four-piece Cub Sport picked up travel support for the domestic and internationally legs of the 2018 world tour.
“Virgin Australia is a proud supporter of the Australian music industry. We offer individual artists 64 kilograms of checked baggage when travelling domestically, and continue to find ways to ensure that Australian music is an integral part of our inflight entertainment services,” Virgin Australia group executive brand, marketing and public affairs, Danielle Keighery said.
We continue to focus on making travel as easy and affordable as possible for individual and emerging artists as they break into the industry.”
To enter, ARIA members are encouraged to submit their artist’s 2019 promotional strategy, including a US tour plan, as well as a brief description of how the scholarship will help the artist achieve their career goals.
Submissions are restricted to two acts per ARIA member with all entries to be lodged through [email protected] by Friday, November 16.
