Debut signings at indie labels Source Music and Elefant Traks
Source Music and Elefant Traks have announced the signing of debut acts.
Ethan French is a 19-year old Perth singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist studying musical composition at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
French has just released his first single ‘Say What You Want’ on Source Music.
French won first prize in the high school category of the Australian Children’s Music Foundation National Songwriting Competition at age 15, and this year’s Ampfest @ Home.
His music melds jazz, pop and classical music.
“I don’t like to act as if I’m doing anything more than making some music, but if I can create some meaning for myself and others through my art, I’m doing something I’m proud of,” French said.
Elefant Traks’ latest inking Powloh has dropped his first single under that name, ‘Way Away’.
However the Philippines-born, Melbourne based, multidisciplinary artist and producer, cut his teeth with Allday live as DJ since 2012 under an alias.
He also created the accompanying video, in an aeroplane graveyard.
“I’ve been a fan of Elefant Traks for years,” Powloh said of joining his new label. “I’ve always admired their ethos of community and being an artist focussed label.
“I’m stoked be joining the fam and to be releasing music side-by-side artists I’m truly inspired by. This is going to be a geeewd time!”
