Sounds Australia puts spotlight on Aussie music at UK’s Great Escape
Music export body Sounds Australia will put the spotlight on 30 Australian acts at The Great Escape conference and showcase in the UK – which now has a reputation for where to find the best of new export-ready acts.
Australia is the lead country partner at this year’s festival.
Activity begins on Thursday (May 9) with Sound Gallery at Komedia, showcasing eleven artists on two stages.
These include Kian, Alex Lahey, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird, Emerson Snowe, Triple One, The Dawn Of MAY, Nice Biscuit, Allysha Joy, DOBBY, Retiree and PLANET.
On Friday (May 10) Sounds Australia, in partnership with the Australian High Commission in London, will host the annual networking luncheon, offering an opportunity for the Australian industry attending The Great Escape to connect with industry from the UK and Europe.
Saturday, May 11 sees The Aussie BBQ return to Brighton Beach for a second year.
This year the 20 Aussies will be playing on three stages for the first time.
These include Confidence Man, Kingswood, The Jungle Giants, Cable Ties, Stonefield, Tropical Fuck Storm, These New South Whales, Sons Of The East, Pagan, Horror My Friend, JEFFE, Kaiit, Ruby Fields, Press Club, A. Swayze & The Ghosts, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Body Type.
On Sunday, May 12 it’s London’s turn to witness more than 20 acts at The Aussie BBQ London at the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen.
It’s the largest showcase of Australian music in the UK.
The bands mentioned above are joined for this by Tia Gostelow, Ed Wells, Lou Stone and Mali-Koa.
Each of the 30 acts have a song on The Great Escape and Aussie BBQ London 2019 playlists on Apple Music, Deezer, Pandora, Spotify and YouTube.
