Sony’s local roster is in blistering form to kickstart Q3
Sony Music Entertainment Australia is continuing to showcase the strength of its domestic roster.
Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Illy and Tones And I make up four of the first five spots on the TMN Australian Chart, measuring the performance of Aussie artists at radio.
The only non-Sony artist to appear in the bracket is EMI Music Australia’s 5 Seconds Of Summer with ‘Easier’.
It comes off the back of an impressive Q2 for Sony in which the major claimed 11 local entries on the quarterly TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart, more than any other label.
Sebastian’s ‘Choir’ was the label’s third Hot 100 chart-topper of 2019, and the first by an Australian Sony artist since Amy Shark’s ‘I Said Hi’.
Tones And I hit a new peak on the Hot 100 this week with ‘Dance Monkey’ rising to #24, besting the heights of debut song ‘Johnny Run Away’ (#27).
After signing a global deal with Sony last October, Illy’s ‘Then What’ is the rapper’s highest performing single on the chart since ‘Catch 22’ ft. Anne-Marie reached #12 in November of 2016.
With ‘Little Things’, Mauboy moves up one frame to #21. The singer is eyeing a fourteenth Top 10 hit on the chart. Only Sebastian (16) has more among Aussie artists.
