Social Family Records Hires Michael Bond as Label Manager (EXCLUSIVE)
Independent record company Social Family Records has appointed Michael Bond as label manager, effective immediately.
Part of the Golden Robot Global Entertainment Group, SFR represents a roster of country artists, including Hayley Jensen, Lachlan Bryan & The Wildes, Kate Hindle and more.
The indie – which launched in 2012 with Baby Animals as its first signing – has released records by Fanny Lumsden, Amber Lawrence, Troy Kemp, Casey Barnes, and more.
SFR is distributed by Universal Music for its physical product, and The Orchard for digital. Golden Robot acquired the then adult-contemporary label in 2016.
Bond joins from Country Rocks Festival and is well-known in Australia’s country music scene. He’s previously worked in management, promotions, A&R and publicity.
“I am looking forward to working with the current roster of artists and offering them all the support they need and more including live music opportunities and a real chance to get their music heard in overseas markets,” bond said.
“Im actively now searching for new talent to add to the current SFR roster and look forward to signing the next Golden Guitar award winner.”
The leadership change brings SFR “back into the Golden Robot fold” alongside 12 other labels, according to president Mark Alexander-Erber.
“With Michael’s vast knowledge, the backing of Golden Robot’s extensive overseas network and new financial investment into the label, we know that this is the beginning of something very special for the Australian and International country music scene,” Alexander-Erber said.
Bond replaces Nardia Drayton, who announced her departure and future plans on Monday.
Last year, Golden Robot Records offered to give away its albums for free to COVID-vaxinated people for the month of July in an effort to encourage Australians to get vaccinated.
