Scooter Braun co-develops animated series Rock Angels

Talent manager Scooter Braun’s company SB Projects is expanding further into television. He is developing a new heavy music-themed kids animated series called Rock Angels.

His partner in the project is French kids/family orientated animation house Cyber Group Studios. The series’ music is created by Braun’s Schoolboy Records.

Rock Angels is about a band made up of five members aged between 12 to 15. They are formed by two different acts – a sister duo called Sky Angels from Louisiana named Dayna and Cherie, and a Detroit rock band made up of cousins Dev, Joey and Westin called The Rock Ons.

They tie for first spot on music talent competition Bandemonium, and decide to merge as Rock Angels. They become a global sensation. Braun helped write the series, along with Pierre Sissmann and Mike de Seve from Baboon Animation, who will also story edit the series.

Aimed at a 6-12-year-old global audience, the first season follows them winning Bandemonium and their decision to merge, their first tour and their climb up to the top of the international charts. It also investigates life’s lessons through storylines on how fame affects them as people and their friendship and their relationship with their families as they slowly become adults. Since he became a father to son Jagger this year, Braun has wanted to do more children’s projects.

The songs will be filmed as real music videos. The show will lean heavy on digital; each of the animated characters get their own Facebook and Twitter accounts. The first Rock Angels album will be delivered through all platforms.

“We’re excited to work with Mike, Pierre and Cyber Group Studios to develop innovative, inspiring and impactful television,” Braun said. “By bringing together strong content, cutting edge animation and original music, we hope to inspire kids by teaching them that through hard work and dedication, they can achieve their dreams.”

Braun’s SB Projects includes his management arm (Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Carly Rae Jepsen, Cody Simpson) and School Boy Records. Its move into television includes producing high-rating Scorpion for CBS and MTV’s new Todrick. Other projects include live action movie Jem And The Holograms (out October 23 in the US) and projects with skateboarder Tony Hawk and documentary filmmaker RJ Cutler.
