Samsung unveils free music service for Galaxy users
Samsung has entered the world of music streaming with Milk Music: a free offering for users of its Galaxy smartphone, which has launched in the US with over 200 ad-free radio stations.
So far the service has only been announced for the US, with an offering similar to that of Pandora, or iTunes Radio.
The 200 stations will be curated by genre or theme from roughly 13 million tracks, and will allow six song skips per station, per hour. The service does not require users to log-in, and will not allow specific song or artist searches.
As for whether the service will be expanded beyond the US, “it comes down to whether it’s a hit or not,” according to Daren Tsui, Vice President of Music for Samsung’s Media Solutions Center America. “Knowing Samsung, the chances are very high”.
