Rüfüs Du Sol extend U.S. stadium run after impressive sell-outs

Rüfüs Du Sol are riding the wave in the United States, where the Australian electronic trio are posting giant box-office numbers.

The Sydneysiders’ brace of shows this November at Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium are sell outs, with more than 50,000 tickets changing hands in a matter of minutes.

Today, the ARIA Award-winners extend their largest-ever run of headline shows with an extra third date, set for 14th November.

Flight Facilities will support across the three shows.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see Australian artists having these types of wins internationally,” says their manager, Danny Robson.

“After the twelve months that we’ve all had, it’s phenomenal to see that the relationship Rüfüs Du Sol have cultivated with their fans is stronger than ever.”

Shifting 50,000 tickets in L.A. — and potentially 25,000 more — is a seriously impressive feat for a group who, just three years ago, changed their name because Rüfüs was already taken in the U.S.

A mid-career name-switch is typically a kiss of death. Not for these lads.

Their U.S. success is no fluke.

The synth-pop torchbearers landed headline status at Electric Forest 2018, Life Is Beautiful 2019, a triumphant show to 20,500 fans at Los Angeles State Historic Park, and they earned the sunset slot at Coachella over two weekends.

Their third and most recent studio album, 2018’s Solace, gave Rüfüs Du Sol their international breakthrough.

Critically praised, Solace was voted as the best electronic album of 2018 by Billboard’s Dance vertical, was nominated for two Grammy Awards (for Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Recording) and three ARIA Awards, winning for Best Dance Release.

Solace peaked at No. 6 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and reached No. 2 on Heatseekers Albums chart and the ARIA Albums Chart.

Previous LPs Atlas (from 2013) and Bloom (2016) went to No. 1 in Australia.

There’s more of the good stuff to come.

The outfit, comprised of members Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt, spent the past 12 months of lockdown between Californian studios in Joshua Tree and Los Angeles, working on a fourth studio album.

Joshua Tree is like a second home to the act. They recorded a live album and film in the Californian national park, Live at Joshua Tree, which dropped last year.

Their as-yet unnamed fourth studio LP is tentatively due for release in 2021, via Warner Music Australia.
